Starting in 1969 the Isley Brothers were the go-to group for black music, with an amazing fifty singles on the R&B charts from 1969 to 1988. In 1955 one of the brothers was killed in a car accident and the three remaining brothers moved to New York City. The Isley Brothers started as four brothers who sang Gospel music. Why? Because Biggie sampled one of their songs creating one of his most famous songs, nominated for Best Rap Solo Performance at the 1996 Grammy Awards.
